“A diploma is a diploma, whether it was earned in a classroom or at the kitchen table," said Representative Mark Harris. “Homeschooled graduates deserve equal recognition and equal opportunity when applying for federal financial aid during the college application process. My bill, the Homeschool Graduation Recognition Act, has passed the House, bringing us one step closer to ending discrimination against homeschool students. I urge the Senate to pass this bill and send it to the President’s desk. This is about fairness and equal opportunity for every student pursuing higher education.”

Strikes misleading language in existing law that describes homeschoolers as students “who are not high school graduates.”
Clarifies that homeschooled students who graduate in accordance with state law are, in fact, high school graduates for purposes of receiving federal student aid.
